Purity of Teflon® PFA HP Safeguards Accuracy in Liquid Transfer
Applications
Upchurch Scientific® meets the need
for ultra-high purity tubing and fittings in the analytical instrumentation
and semiconductor markets with DuPont™ Teflon® PFA HP fluoropolymer.
Applications for such components include high-performance liquid chromatography
(HPLC), semiconductor-based analytical systems for pharmaceutical
research, and fluid handling systems for manufacturing semiconductor
microelectronic devices.
“With freedom from contaminants and metallic ions down to parts
per billion levels, Teflon® PFA HP is the perfect solution for
the low-pressure sections of critical HPLC and other liquid transfer
applications,” says Mike Bailey, vice president of sales and
new product development at Upchurch Scientific. Teflon® PFA HP
is also compatible with the broadest range of solvents and samples
of any polymer or metal currently used for HPLC components, according
to Bailey.
“The material delivers manufacturing and design advantages,
too,” he says. “Teflon® PFA HP is easily molded in
complex shapes and extruded into tubing and other profiles with relatively
tight tolerances.”
In addition to its standard sizes, Upchurch custom extrudes Teflon®
PFA HP into tubing with outside diameters from 0.030 to 0.250 in.
(0.79 to 6.4 mm) and IDs as small as .010 in. (0.25 mm). Molded components
include nuts, plugs and stoppers for solvent bottles. Upchurch's flangeless
fittings design avoids the need for flared tubing, greatly simplifying
tubing connections and reconnections. The company also offers custom
assemblies, kits, packaging and labeling.
